Bell Capital Cup Creates Lasting Memories

December 29, 2023

The Bell Capital Cup has become a holiday tradition here in Ottawa and once again we see it taking over local arenas, this year for the 23rd annual edition. With over 200 teams from 3 different continents, the tournament features over 450 games as teams compete for division championships.

A lot of times, this tournament is about more than hockey. This was the case for a select group of local and international players. Team Beijing is competing in the U13AAA division of the Bell Capital Cup and were treated to a friendly pre-tournament game at Cardel Rec Centre on December 28th.

A local Chinese Canadian All-Star team was put together to play against Team Beijing. All players, coaches and even the officials in the game were of Chinese descent. The local All-Star team was comprised of players from local minor hockey associations including:

  • Ottawa Jr 67s
  • Ottawa Myers Automotive
  • Nepean Raiders
  • Ottawa Sting
  • Kanata Blazers
  • Nepean Girls Hockey Association
  • Kanata Girls Hockey Association

The game drew enthusiastic participants from the Ottawa Chinese Canadian hockey community and the group was able to take advantage of this event to collect donations to Kanata Food Cupboard to help those who are in need.

Congratulations to all involved on a successful event and we wish good luck to Team Beijing in the Bell Capital Cup!
