Bantam AAA, Midget AAA and Junior A teams are required to have a fully certified HP1 Head Coach. The HEO High Performance 1 Certification Policy outlines the conditions and timelines that coaches are required to meet in order to be deemed eligilble for these positions.
Below is a simplified summary of the key points of the policy, however, it is very important that coaches download, read and understand the full policy.

Please Note - this policy only applies to coaches governed by Hockey Eastern Ontario. HP1 coaches who are coaching female hockey in the branch are governed by the OWHA and should direct all inquiries to them.
HEO High Performance 1 Certification Policy
Key Policy Points:
- "Certification" status is granted only after successful completion of the HP1 Clinic, HP1 Assignment, CAC Online Components and a Field Evaluation. Until all elements are complete the coach is considered to be "Trained" status.
- Upon completion of the HP1 Clinic the coach has until October 31st of the current year to submit their HP1 Assignment for marking.
- A coach can start the season immediately following the HP1 Clinic in a "Trained" status.
- For seasons beyond the season immediately following the HP1 Clinic the coach must be certified or at a minimum have passed their assignment and be awaiting their field evaluation. It is incumbant upon the coach to ensure that HEO is notified of the their situation and an appropriate note has been added to their HCR record.
- A coach that does not submit their assignment by October 31st risks not being able to have their assignment marked during the season following the HP1 Clinic and hence not having their Field Evaluation completed. In such cases the coach is at risk of not being deemed eligible to coach in the subsequent season and may have to retake the HP1 Clinic.
