POE Coaching Applications

APPLICATIONS FOR 2018-19 NOW OPEN

HEO is seeking a coaching staff for our Program of Excellence (POE) U16 team for the 2018-19 season. HEO’s POE was created to identify and work with high performance athletes in a series of on and off ice sessions in a development first curriculum. Specifically, the U16 team competes in the OHL Gold Cup, being held early May 2019 in Kitchener, ON.

The Under-16 OHL Gold Cup is an annual event created to feature Ontario’s top Under-16 talent. This event not only showcases Ontario’s talent, but it is an evaluation and selection process for Team Canada. The top players from the U16 OHL Gold Cup will attend the Under-17 Team Canada National Camp where the Hockey Canada Staff will select 66 players from across the country to represent Canada at the World Under-17 Challenge held annually in December. With 8 teams and 160 players representing the ALLIANCE, GTHL, HEO, HNO, NOHA, and OMHA, the future of Canadian hockey is on display during the 2018 OHL Gold Cup.

The Head Coach will be part of a leadership group including the HEO Manager of Hockey Operations, HEO Development Programs Officer and the HEO Coaching Development Coordinator and will supervise a coaching staff of at least two assistant coaches. The Head Coach will participate in talent identification and selection through scouting, organize and execute practices and supervise the players through all activities as they arise.

The Assistant Coaches will report to the Head Coach and perform duties, including talent identification, as assigned by the leadership group.

The successful candidates must be available for full participation in all team functions including, but not limited to, evaluation camps being held October 14th and January 20 (2019), as well as the OHL Gold Cup Tournament. All positions require full certification at the High Performance 1 level. Deadline to apply is 5pm August 31st, 2018.

Interested applicants should demonstrate an understanding of the HEO POE and submit a cover letter and resume to Jeff Robert via email to jrobert@hockeyeasternontario.ca
